Intended use of the product
Quality control and assurance of brachytherapy is one of the most common cancer treatment, procedures.
The BrachyDOSE dosimetry system is developed for patient dose measurements and control during the brachytherapy procedures. The BrachyDOSE dosimetry system consists of a disposable dosimeter and a multiple-use reader.
BrachyDOSE is the first specialized, easily adaptable solution on the market that does not increase the length of procedures and retains the accuracy of measurements. The principle novelty aspect of BrachyDOSE solution is its full compatibility and ease-of-use, allowing the solution to be used in everyday medical procedures.
BranchyDOSE will ensure safer cancer treatment procedures and allow patients to have highly personalized treatment plans while also helping treatment providers to achieve higher profit.
Current – TRL6 (2017): The prototype system has already been tested with phantom measurements performed close to the expected levels. Currently the device is being further tested in clinical environment using human tissue equivalent phantom and the pilot study for the performance of in vivo test measurements is in preparation phase. The system will be fully tested in close collaboration with the first end-user which is cancer treatment institutions.
The company is currently running the Horizon 2020 Phase 1 project, which is funded by European Commission. "Šeši partneriai" are carrying out the feasibility study together with partner UAB Civitta. The company also has collaboration agreement with Kaunas University of Technology and discussing the agreement with National Cancer Institute for further development of this product. "Šeši partneriai" also keep contact with Meta Group associates in Lithuania for venture capital investments.
BrachyDOSE system is competing with other dosimetric systems that are designed for routine dosimetery measurements.
RAPDOSE, TLD, VIVODOSE are not designed for specialized brachytherapy measurements, however, they have high dose measurement quality.
RAPDOSE is created for 4D radiotherapy. They use MOSFET dosimeter, which has high measurement accuracy and small geometrical parameters. Thus, it can only be used for a short time period and its price is relatively high. 4D radiotherapy is only performed in high medical level countries.
TLD dosimeter has good measurement accuracy, however, it is difficult to use in brachytherapy procedures as it extends the duration of the procedure. It requires calibration and sterilization before every procedure.
VIVODOSE is the dosimetric system of a well-known manufacturer PTW. It measures real-time, but is not compatible with equipment used in brachytherapy procedures.
The company is currently looking for financial sources and partners for product development.
MB "Šeši partneriai" was established in 2014. The company is focused at wave phenomena, optics, acoustics, ionizing irradiation. The members of a team are from different science fields: material and electronic engineering, medical physics, medical and applied physics. On our advisory board we also have a professor who has a long time experience in dosimetry.
Dosimetery system for the high-dose rate brachyteraphy procedures.
In 2014 the company was established as a small parnership. Currently we have two employees that work full day. Other employees – work 20-50% of a day.
The company constantly works with the acoustic waves dynamics assessment and BrachyDOSE dosimetric project.
MB "Šeši partneriai" have participated in MITA competition and has won the project „Commercialization of prototype “. Together with UAB „Deloitte Lietuva“ and ANTEJA ECG we performed commercialization analysis for the product. Also, the commercialization methodology was performed (using „CANVAS“ method) concerning the necessary steps for successful implementation of new products and services.
MB "Šeši partneriai" won the Horizon 2020 SME project Phase1 „Developing a feasibility study for the future commercialization of BranchyDOSE – an innovative accurate and simple brachytherapy measurements tool“.
MB "Šeši partneriai" is the first company established by the graduates of Physics cathedral (Kaunas University of Technology), and aims at the commercialization of research results and technological development.
